Assistant Professor

Dr. Evan Sorg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Justice Studies at Rowan University. He received his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Temple University in 2015. Prior to doing his graduate work he was a police officer with the New York City Police Department. His research involves police innovations, place-based criminology and the evaluation of policing interventions. Recent publications appear in journals such as Criminology, Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency and Policing: A Journal of Policy and Practice. Dr. Sorg teaches courses to local and and international police commanders and crime analysts on topics such as intelligence-led policing, crime mapping and crime analysis. At Rowan, he teaches American Police and Advanced Topics in Law Enforcement. In his free time he enjoys scuba diving, fishing and paddle boarding along the Jersey Shore and spending time with his rescued cocker spaniel, Pinckney.
