Tenure-Track Positions

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rowan University is seeking dynamic applicants for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to: teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, guide an active scholarly research program involving both undergraduate and graduate students, obtain funding from competitive external funding agencies and engage in relevant service activities.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of academic and research programs and to contribute to the research community. Our particular emphasis in this year’s search focus is in two main areas 1) environmental engineering - exploring new ideas in water quality in areas such as water and wastewater treatment, chemical and/or microbial public health aspects, and microbial ecology in engineered systems ; 2) water resources engineering with focus on urban/regional water resources management, watershed modeling, computational fluid mechanics, river mechanics, sediment transport, and environmental dispersion. Candidates with exceptional credentials and a promising research agenda in other areas such as structural, geotechincal and transportation engineering will also be considered.

Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and student mentoring. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a strongly-funded research program and collaborate, as needed, with multi-disciplinary groups of faculty and professionals, including personnel at the South Jersey Technology Park and/or the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. The successful candidate is also expected to apply innovative teaching techniques and/or conduct research in the scholarship of teaching.
