The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department has a expanding Ph.D. program. The Ph.D. is conferred upon candidates who have demonstrated significant scholarship and the ability to conduct independent research. The program prepares students to make original contributions to advance specialized areas of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Students pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering may receive support for their study via teaching or research fellowships.

Research fellowships require a student to work with an adviser on a project funded by a grant. The fellowship provides tuition and a stipend.

Teaching fellowships require a student to teach 3 credits per semester. The fellow receives tuition and a monthly stipend.

Curriculum Requirements:

Students require a minimum of 72 credits of graduate level work beyond a bachelor degree.

If you possess a Master's degree in a related field, a minimum of 42 semester hours of graduate level work beyond your Master's degree will be required. Up to 30 of the credits earned in pursuit of your Master's degree may be transferable.
