Program Goal

The goal of the MA in ABA is to provide students with the necessary educational degree, coursework, and experience to function effectively as an applied behavior analyst and to pursue certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®), which is a national credential granted by The Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.® Here is the Course Content Verification Form for Rowan University's BCBA coursework.

Specific Objectives

  1. Students will know the basic principles of behavior and the empirical basis for these principles.
  2. Students will know how to apply these basic principles of behavior to effectively change individual and group behavior.
  3. Students will demonstrate knowledge and ability to assess and identify the function of behaviors and behavior problems.
  4. Students will understand the characteristics of the populations with which they will work as a behavior analysts.
  5. Students will understand the operating rules and functions of the different systems in which they will collaborate to meet the needs of their clients.
  6. Through supervised experience in community agencies, students will become proficient in the behavioral assessment and treatment of different problems and issues confronting children with a variety of special needs.
  7. Students will learn how to systematically evaluate interventions and to provide feedback to clients and consumers.
  8. Students will learn the professional identity of behavior analysts and demonstrate how to apply ethical principles in practice.
