Lenuta Ciulei

Acclaimed in 22 countries on 4 continents, the Romanian-born violinist Lenuta Ciulei started her brilliant career at the age of 9, appearing live on Romanian National TV. Her distinctive and imaginative style comes on a unique combination of great violinistic tradition of the renowned artists and pedagogues George Enescu, David Oistrach, Eugene Ysaye.

She began playing violin at the age of 5 and studied with Stefan Gheorghiu, Andre Gertler, Raphael Druian, Ruggiero Ricci. Mrs. Ciulei is first prize winner of the famous N. Paganini (Genoa, Italy) International Violin Competition, as well as T. Varga (Sion, Switzerland) and M. Abbado (Sondrio, Italy) International Violin Competitions, and played at many prestigious festivals: Bayreuth Festival (Germany), Marlboro Music Festival, Carmel Bach Festival, "George Enescu" International Festival (Bucharest), Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (Conn.), Grand Teton Music Festival. For her exceptional career she was rewarded with The 1994 Pennsylvania Council Of The Arts Fellowship Solo Recitalist Award and in 1996 with The Cultural Order "Rio Grande" by the President of The Federal Republic of Brazil. She performed in front of U.N. Great Assembly at U.N. Palais in Geneva, in Bartok Memorial House in Budapest, in Great Hall of "Tchaikovsky Conservatory" in Moscow, in Lincoln Center's "Alice Tully" Hall, in Madrid for Royal Spanish Family where the El Pais newspaper named her "one of the greatest European violinists of the younger generation" and in other big cities and capitals in Europe, Asia, North and South America as soloist with major orchestras.

Praised by public and critics alike for the very fine balance between her perfect technique, supreme accuracy, emotion and imagination, she was named "an angel singing", "passionately abandoning herself to music." Lenuta Ciulei has an unusual versatile repertoire which features masterworks from early Baroque to the latest contemporary music. She is an ideal recitalist and chamber music performer. Lenuta Ciulei is extensively touring, and appeared in Radio and TV broadcasts in U.S.A., Europe, Asia, Central and South America. She is giving master classes at universities, international festivals and orchestras in United States, Venezuela and Europe.
