The Spanish Major Concentration/Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUGS) in Spanish Translation and Interpretation (12 s.h.) recognizes students’ completion of 12 s.h. of related coursework.  For Spanish Majors, this credential is referred to as a Concentration; for non-Spanish Majors, this credential is referred to as a Certificate.  This Concentration/Certificate enhances the profile of all job applicants across all fields of study, as it promotes both autonomous and collaborative learning in Translation and Interpretation from the classroom to the community and forming global and empathic leadership skills.

In order to declare this Concentration/Certificate, contact the Program Advisor, Christine Larsen-Britt (larsen-britt@rowan.edu; 856-256-4068).  The Concentration/Certificate may also be declared in the Department of World Languages.

 Required Courses:

SPAN05.340   Introduction to Spanish Translation (prereq. Spanish Rdg. & Comp.)
SPAN05.350   Introduction to Spanish Interpretation (prereq. Spanish Rdg. & Comp.)
SPAN05.441   Advanced Spanish Translation (prereq. Intro. to Spanish Translation)
SPAN05.452   Internship in Spanish (prereq. Span. Rdg./Comp. and Instructor approval)

Students may satisfy program requirements through coursework completed at Rowan University, transfer credits obtained from coursework at other institutions, and study abroad.  Students planning to study abroad must meet with the Concentration/Certificate Advisor in order to determine course equivalents.
