Sociology Major Requirements

39 Credits in Sociology:

  1. 2.0 overall average
  2. 2.0 average in sociology
  3. 15 credits at Rowan University
  4. 18 credits at 300, 400, 500 level
  5. Letter grades only
  6. C- minimum grade
  7. No more than two courses can be repeated and each of these two can be repeated no more than once
  8. Required courses: Intro to Sociology; Social Problems; Classical Soc. Theory (preferred by Junior year); Sociological Practice; Sociological Research Methods (preferred by Junior year); Social Statistics (preferred by Junior year); Senior Seminar; Field Experience in Sociology (6 s.h.)

Overall credits:

  1. 120 total credits
  2. 30 crdits overall at 300, 400, 500 level
  3. Up to 10% may be P/NC
  4. Maximum Community College transfer credits = 67 credits
  5. Community College credits transfer in as lower-level (100, 200)
  6. D grades are not accepted. This rule applies to sociology and non-sociology courses.
